They explore many different mediums such as sewing, painting, drawing, pottery, printmaking and discover which they enjoy most! Using fun and easy-to-follow templates, kids will design, cut, and hand-stitch a variety of stuffed creations. They’ll learn different stitching techniques, experiment with various fabrics, and complete the term with a unique final project—entirely designed and made by them. While a sewing machine will be available for certain tasks, most of the work will be done by hand. This class explores different drawing mediums such as charcoal, pastels, pen and ink, watercolour pencils, graphite and printmaking. Drawing from objects in life and from photos students learn about contrast, light and shade and drawing realism. Students also learn to draw cartoons, the human form and beginner portraiture.
